Eleventh Court of Appeals
Justice Keith Stretcher was appointed by Governor Greg Abbott on January 7, 2019, to serve on the Eleventh Court of Appeals. Justice Stretcher lives in Midland. He and his wife, Sheryl, have lived in Midland for over 35 years.
Justice Stretcher graduated summa cum laude from East Texas State University in 1976 and received a Bachelor of Science degree. He graduated from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1981.
Immediately after graduating from law school, Justice Stretcher practiced civil and criminal law in Marshall, Texas. In 1983, he joined the Midland City Attorney’s office. Justice Stretcher was appointed the Midland City Attorney in 1992. He continued in that position for over 22 years with extensive criminal, civil and appellate duties.
Justice Stretcher is a member of the State Bar of Texas. He has previously served as President of the Texas City Attorney’s Association.
Justice Stretcher has volunteered in various civil, school, and church activities. He was a youth sports coach and official for over 10 years, as well as booster club president. He served as Vice Chairman of the Midland Development Corporation and as a member of the Midland Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Committee prior to his appointment to the Eleventh Court of Appeals.
