Accessibility Policy 

The Texas Judicial Branch websites are hosted and supported by the Office of Court Administration (OCA). OCA is committed to making the websites accessible to all users. Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate all users who utilize standards compliant web browsers as well as enabling software or assistive devices.

The Judicial Branch websites meet the definition of generally accessible Internet sites as defined in Texas Administrative Code Section 206 - State Web Sites. To ensure that the sites comply with state and federal law, OCA reviews each new page or application for compliance with the Worldwide Web Consortium's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). OCA also reviews previously existing pages and applications for accessibility when significant modifications are made to them. To verify the accessibility of the web site, OCA tests the site using various tools such as AIS Web Accessibility Toolbar, Mozilla Web Developer Extension Toolbar, Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool (WAVE), and NonVisual Desktop Access Screen Reader (NVDA).

Accessibility of Third Party Sites

In an effort to communicate in a broad fashion, the Judicial Branch may communicate material already available on a Branch website via a third party site such as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube. Because the Judicial Branch provides the same material in an accessible format on the websites, OCA provides no guarantee that these third party sites are compliant with accessibility standards.

To Get Information in a Different Format

OCA welcomes comments on how to improve the site's accessibility for users with disabilities. If you use assistive technology and the format of any material on our website interferes with your ability to access information, please contact our Web Accessibility Coordinator through the Webmaster link at the bottom of this page, or contact us through Relay Texas. If you need to contact us via TDD equipment, dial 7-1-1 and ask the Relay Texas agent to call 512-463-1625. Relay Texas provides telephone interpreting service between people who can hear and those who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, deaf-blind or speech-disabled.

Please provide:

  • the Web address of the requested material
  • the nature of your accessibility problem
  • suggested formats that are workable for you for similar materials
  • how OCA can contact you

With this information, OCA will be able to respond in a helpful way.

To Ask Us to Review Specific Content

You may also contact us if you would like to suggest that OCA review a specific Web page or application for compliance with WCAG. In that case, be sure to also let OCA know the nature of the trouble you are having with getting access to the content.
