Crystina Vachon has been a Forensic Scientist in the Trace Evidence Section of the Bexar County Criminal Investigation Laboratory for 15 years and routinely performs examinations in the discipline of Trace Evidence, including analyses of gunshot residue, hair, fiber and paint. Currently, she is the acting Technical Leader for impression evidence testing in her laboratory and routinely testifies as an expert witness in state and federal courts in Texas and other states. Mrs. Vachon received her B.S. in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University in Shreveport in 1999, and her M.S. in Pharmacy with a concentration in Forensic Science from the University of Florida in 2007. She is certified as a Hair and Fiber Fellow by the American Board of Criminalistics, is a Texas licensed Trace Materials analyst, a technical assessor for the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors – Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB) and a member of both the Southwestern Association of Forensic Scientists (SWAFS) and the American Society of Trace Evidence Examiners (ASTEE).
