Here's an overview of independent agencies of the Texas Judicial Branch, available from the Organizations menu.

  • The Office of Capital Writs (OCW) is charged with representing death sentenced persons in state post-conviction habeas corpus and related proceedings.
  • The Office of Court Administration (OCA) provides resources and information for the efficient administration of the Judicial Branch of Texas.
  • The State Commission on Judicial Conduct (SCJC) is responsible for investigating allegations of judicial misconduct or judicial disability, and for disciplining judges.
  • The State Law Library (SLL) is a public law library that serves the legal research needs of the Texas Supreme Court, the Court of Criminal Appeals, the Office of the Attorney General, other state agencies and commissions, and the citizens of the state.
  • The State Prosecuting Attorney (SPA) charged with representing the people of Texas before the Court of Criminal Appeals, the state's highest criminal court.
