Court Reporters Certification
Exam Procedures & Fees
We strongly recommend the following for examinees:
- Taking the oral exam prior to the written exam. This will help to prevent your written exam scores from expiring prior to becoming certified. See Exam Results section for additional information.
- Practicing hard for a while before applying for the oral exam. Taking plenty of time to build and strengthen your skills helps to ensure proper preparation for the test and increases your odds of becoming certified.
Applying for the Exam
- To apply for the exam, you must register and pay exam fees, via TCRA’s website. (Refer to their website for registration details such as forms, fees, dates, procedures, etc.)
- Please note that any references to a file number on exam paperwork for TCRA refers to the file number assigned to the applicant by the JBCC. We will provide this number directly to TCRA.
- Exam registrations submitted without an application for certification already on file with the JBCC will not be permitted to take the exam.
After the Exam
- TCRA will provide test results to examinees after the results have been confirmed.
- Applicants can confirm their certification by logging into their online profile, or via the automated email confirmation that's when their application for certification is approved.
- Certification cards will be issued to the primary mailing address on file. We recommend not using a business address for your primary mailing address.
- TCRA conducts all exam regrades and/or exam reviews. (Refer to their website for details such as forms, fees, procedures, etc.)
- Per section 3.10 (d) of the JBCC Rules, requests for regrades must be submitted within 30 days of notification of exam results.
- The regrade deadline for the February 2025 exam is 04/01/2025.
- Per section 6.2 (h) of the JBCC Rules, personal review requests must be submitted within 30 days of the notice of regrading results.
