On October 13, 2020, the Second Court of Appeals will begin destruction of records in civil cases that have been finally disposed of and stored for at least six years. See Tex. Gov’t Code Ann. § 51.204(d). The civil records to be destroyed are records of appeals and original proceedings that were finally disposed of and stored during the calendar years 2007–2013.
Before we begin destruction, district and county clerks may request records to be returned to the trial courts for preservation in accordance with records retention schedules for records of district and county clerks. See id. § 51.204(d)(1). Click HERE for the list of cases to be destroyed. Please notify the Clerk of the Court, Debra Spisak, via email at email@example.com of any cases that should be returned to the trial court for preservation.
