Deborah M. Young was appointed as Clerk of the Court for the First and Fourteenth Courts of Appeal on February 1, 2023. The Courts made the appointment pursuant to Texas Constitution article V, section 5a. After law school, Ms. Young served as a research attorney at the 9th Court of Appeals for ten years. Ms. Young served on the Fourteenth Court of Appeals as a central staff attorney and chambers attorney before becoming the Chief Staff Attorney in 2019.  Ms. Young received her B.A. degree from Texas A&M University in College Station and her J.D. from Texas Tech University.
