Johnson v. State, Nos. 02-25-00142-CR, 02-25-00144-CR (Dec. 11, 2025) (Walker, J., joined by Kerr and Womack, JJ.).

Held: A defendant’s constitutional and statutory rights are not violated when he pleads guilty before the trial court and the trial court adjudicates his guilt prior to the jury’s empanelment and sentences him—without a separate or duplicative finding of guilt by the jury—in accordance with the jury’s punishment verdict.

In Re: The Commitment of Jeffery Regan Eddings, No. 02-25-00523-CV (Dec. 11, 2025) (orig. proceeding) (Walker, J., joined by Sudderth, C.J., and Kerr, J.).

Held: Because a trial court’s order concluding a Chapter 841 biennial review is neither a final judgment nor an appealable interlocutory order, it is not appealable.
