The Supreme Court of Texas ordered the setting of public deliberations on proposed amendments to the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct and Texas Rules of Disciplinary Procedure. The deliberations will occur from 3-5 p.m. May 6 in the Supreme Court Courtroom, 201 W. 14th St., Austin, TX.

In 2017, the Texas Legislature amended the State Bar Act (Chapter 81 of the Government Code) to create the State Bar's Committee on Disciplinary Rules and Referenda (CDRR) and overhaul the disciplinary rule process. Now, proposed rule changes must first be approved by the CDRR before consideration by the State Bar Board of Directors, and a vote of the State Bar membership. Finally, the Supreme Court of Texas considers the changes approved by the bar membership after accepting written public comments and a public deliberation.

Written public comments for the Court should be sent to rulescomments@txcourts.gov by May 1.
