Guardianship Training Module

Texas certified guardians, Texas guardians appointed prior to 06/01/18, Texas attorneys, and corporate fiduciaries are exempt from the training requirement.

Once you've completed the training, you must download a copy of your certificate from the training modules. Afterwards, you must provide a copy of your certificates d to the court, as well as upload a copy of the certificates to your online registration form in the JBCC online licensing system.

What is the new law?

Who must take the training?

  • Guardians of people age 60 or older, or those with Alzheimer’s, dementia, or related conditions.

When is it due?

  • New guardians: within 6 months of appointment and every year after.
  • Current guardians: complete by September 1, 2026.

Are there exceptions?

  • Temporary guardians may not need training unless extended. Courts may waive requirement in some cases.

Who checks this?

  • Provide a copy of your course completion certificate to the court overseeing the guardianship.

  4. Watch video.
  5. Confirm completion.
  6. Save or print certificate.
  7. Provide a copy of your completion certificate to the court.
