Judicial Branch Certification Commission

Frequently Asked Questions

Information for Applicants

  1. All individuals seeking a license, certification, or registration issued by the Judicial Branch Certification Commission or a renewal of a license, certification, or registration issued by the JBCC.

Applicants who have submitted an initial application or renewal application that has yet to be approved as of 10/01/2026 must upload their required documentation to the secure site as well.

  2. There are no exceptions.

  3. For your initial application or when you are scheduled to renew an existing license, certification, or registration, you must upload documents providing proof of eligibility to lawfully work in the United States to the secure document upload website.

  4. If the documents you submit reflect permanent eligibility status (i.e., U.S. Passport or a Driver’s License and U.S. Birth Certificate), you need only provide this once.

If your documents are not permanent, (i.e. a Form I-551, commonly called a ‘Green card’), the document’s validity must extend past the expiration of your license/certificate/registration, and you will be required to re-submit at each renewal.

How to Comply

  1. • Go to the JBCC secure documents upload site and enter your email address.

    • The system will automatically generate a one-time-use code, which will be sent to your email address. Enter that code. If you don’t see the email in your inbox, please check your spam or junk folder.

Note: If you get an error message indicating that you are not on the access list, please email the department for your profession to get assistance from the licensing specialist. They will enter the information necessary for you to access the system.

    • Applicants that apply for certification, registration, or licensure on or after 10/01/26 must wait at least a week before uploading their documentation to the secure site.

    • Existing applicants (i.e., those who have created a profile in our licensing system between 09/01/2024 and 09/30/26) can upload their documentation immediately after submitting their applications in our licensing system.

    • Those whose profiles were created over 2 years ago will be contacted via email by the licensing specialist prior to approval of your application requesting that you upload your documentation.
    • New applications for new certification, licensure, or registration will not be approved without the required documentation. You will not be able to work until the matter is resolved and your application for certification, licensure, or registration is approved.
    • Renewals will not be approved until such time as the required documentation is received. If the certification, license, or registration expires during this time, you will not be able to continue working until the matter is resolved and you are renewed (i.e., until your renewal application is approved); therefore, we strongly encourage you to submit your renewal application and all supporting documentation no less than 30 days prior to your expiration date.
