Ed Wallace is the Forensic Scientist Supervisor of the Bexar County Criminal Investigation Laboratory’s Firearm and Tool Mark Section. He has been a Forensic Firearm Examiner for over twenty-six years. Ed graduated from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1996 with a Master of Science Degree in Forensic Science. After completion of his degree, he was employed as a Firearm & Toolmark examiner trainee at the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto. Upon completion of his training in 1999 he moved to the Bexar County Criminal Investigation Laboratory in San Antonio Texas. In 2003, Ed moved to the United Kingdom to work for Forensic Alliance and subsequently LGC Forensics where he was the Head of Firearms from 2007. In late 2008 Ed returned to the Bexar County Crime Lab as the Forensic Scientist Supervisor in the Firearms Section. Throughout his career, Ed has been involved with the Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE), attaining Distinguished Member status and serving on multiple committees, including Editorial, Membership, and Ethics. He was also a member of the AFTE Board of Directors from 2016 until 2022 and served as AFTE President in 2020/21. Ed is also a former Member of the Scientific Working group for Firearms and Tool Marks (SWGGUN).
